for authors

Your readers are a community. Give them a home you own.

A branded app and web platform for your readership, where chapter drops, street-team missions, memberships, and direct sales happen under your name instead of a marketplace's.

Book a Demo See the platform

Authors are told to build a newsletter, a Facebook group, a Patreon, and a Discord. That's four platforms, four logins, four algorithms, and none of them yours. Meanwhile the readers who preorder everything and drag friends to your signings get the same experience as a stranger who wandered in from a search result.

Afanity gives an author one branded home for all of it. Your backlist and bonus content live in the feed, your street team organizes in the forum, your membership tiers bill on your own checkout, and your name is on the app icon. When the next platform pivots, your readers are still on your list.

The publishing math makes this sharper than it is for most creators. An author's income arrives in launch weeks, and launch weeks are won by the few hundred people who show up early, review honestly, and tell everyone. Those people deserve better infrastructure than a group chat, and you deserve to know exactly who they are. Romance and fantasy authors have proven the model for years with street teams run on borrowed tools. The genre didn't need convincing. It needed a platform that treats the street team as the asset it is.

What it looks like in practice

Content

Chapter drops that start conversations

Serialize early access, post annotations and deleted scenes, and give members the cover reveal first. The discussion happens in your space, attached to your work, instead of dissolving into a retailer's review section.

Community / UGC

A street team that actually mobilizes

A private forum for your ARC readers and superfans, with launch-week missions, review drives, and the inside-circle feeling that turns readers into evangelists. When launch day comes, you're not starting a group chat. You're activating one.

Membership

Membership tiers readers keep

Monthly tiers with real benefits, from early chapters to signed-edition priority to a name in the acknowledgments. Billing runs on your platform and the full margin stays yours.

E-Commerce

Direct sales beyond the everything store

Signed editions, special printings, merch, and digital extras sold inside your app. It's the direct channel that doesn't depend on a retailer's terms, and every order deepens a reader record you keep.

Rewards Platform

Make superfandom visible

Points and streaks for the readers who review, show up to discussions, and bring friends. The leaderboard tells you exactly who your champions are, and the perks give them a reason to stay champions between books.

AI Content Creation

A publicist that works while you write

Penni, the built-in AI producer, drafts the release announcement, the newsletter recap, and the push notification for the next chapter drop. You approve, it ships, and you get back to the manuscript.

Questions we hear

How is this different from Patreon or Ream?

Those are membership storefronts on their platform, their brand, and their audience relationship. Afanity is your own branded app and website. Memberships are one feature inside a full community platform you own, alongside forums, content, and direct sales.

I already have a newsletter. Why add this?

Keep the newsletter. It's a great top of funnel. The platform is where your most engaged readers graduate to: discussion, membership, and purchases that an email list structurally can't host.

Is my backlist locked in anywhere?

No. You choose what's free, member-only, or for sale, and everything you publish exports freely along with every reader relationship. There are no exclusivity terms.

Do I really need an app as an author?

A native app is what makes the community sticky. Push a chapter drop and it lands on the home screen instead of a promotions tab. If you'd rather start web-only, the same platform works entirely in the browser.

Does this work for a pen name, or for more than one?

Yes. The platform is white-label, so it carries whatever name you write under. Authors with multiple pen names usually start with the one that has the most devoted readership and expand once the routine is settled.

How does this fit with my publisher and the retailers?

Cleanly. Nothing here touches your publishing contracts or your retail listings. The platform holds the relationship layer that publishers and retailers never give authors anyway, and when your team wants launch support, the street team and the direct channel are assets you bring to the table rather than something you have to ask permission for.

What does running it cost me in time?

Less than the four-platform juggle it replaces. One admin runs everything, and Penni drafts announcements and recaps for your approval. Most authors batch platform work into the same hour they'd have spent scheduling posts.
